Dean Ambrose went into Monday night’s RAW with a right elbow injury but WWE did the beatdown angle with Samoa Joe and RAW Tag Team Champions The Bar to cover the injury.
WWE reported that a MRI shows a likely high-grade triceps tendon injury. They added that Ambrose is set to undergo surgical exploration but will likely need surgery to repair the tendon. We noted before that Ambrose was set to be in Birmingham, Alabama on Wednesday to meet with doctors, and that may be where the surgery takes place.
There’s still no word yet on when Ambrose might be back in action.

There was immediate speculation on former UFC Champion Ronda Rousey being in the first-ever women’s Royal Rumble match after the big announcement from Stephanie McMahon on last night’s RAW. Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that people within WWE who are scheduled to be in the match are under the impression that Rousey will be in as well.
As noted, the women’s Royal Rumble match will feature RAW and SmackDown Superstars competing for a women’s title shot at WrestleMania 34. There’s speculation on WWE NXTSuperstars and stars from the past being brought in for the match but that has not been confirmed.
Rousey has trained at the WWE Performance Center recently, along with NXT Superstar Shayna Baszler. We noted back in October that WWE still had plans to do the Four Horsewomen vs. Four Horsewomen match at WrestleMania 34, with current SmackDown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch, Sasha Banks and Bayley vs. Rousey, Baszler, Jessamyn Duke and Marina Shafir.
The 2018 Royal Rumble pay-per-view takes place on January 28th from the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia.

Word going around the WWE Performance Center is that top indie star Ricochet (Lucha Underground’s Prince Puma) will be starting with the company in January. No word yet on when he would make his WWE NXT roster debut but there have been rumors of WWE signing him for a while now. PWInsider notes that Impact Wrestling tried to sign Ricochet but they couldn’t make a deal happen.
Former ROH Tag Team Champions and NJPW’s IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Champions “War Machine” Hanson and Raymond Rowe are currently going through medical testing to be signed by WWE, according to Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio.
No word yet on when Hanson and Rowe may debut for WWE but word is that they will be working the WWE NXT brand, setting up another potential showdown with Kyle O’Reilly and Bobby Fish.
Meltzer noted that War Machine finished up with Ring of Honor this past weekend but they are still scheduled to work New Japan Pro Wrestling’s Wrestle Kingdom 12 event from the Tokyo Dome on January 4th, 2018. If all goes well with the WWE medical tests, we could see the former IWGP Tag Team Champions in NXT before WrestleMania 34 Season gets going.
