RAW General Manager Kurt Angle revealed on Twitter that Samoa Joe suffered an injury in the match with Rhyno on last night’s RAW, causing him to be pulled from WWE’s Mixed Match Challenge.

The injury to Joe is legitimate and not a part of the storylines. No word yet on when he will be back in action but he’s suffering from a right foot injury and will be undergoing an MRI. As noted, Joe announced on RAW that he will be in the 30-man Royal Rumble match later this month.

“During his match, [Samoa Joe] felt a pop at the bottom of his [right] foot,” said WWE Senior Ringside Physician Dr. Chris Amann. “We took a look and believe he has a plantar fascia rupture, which is a thick tissue rupture under the foot. We will get an MRI to confirm. Treatment includes a period of immobilization in a boot with crutches and platelet rich plasma injections.”

Former WWE Superstar Serena Deeb was in Pittsburgh, PA yesterday, apparently because she is in the middle of her pre-signing medical testing for WWE.

WWE officials have had recent interest in bringing Deeb back to the company, according to PWInsider, and it looks like she may be returning soon, if all goes well with the medical tests.

The 31 year old worked for WWE from the summer of 2009 through the summer of 2010, most notably as a member of The Straight Edge Society with CM Punk and Luke Gallows. She returned to the company in 2017 for The Mae Young Classic, defeating Vanessa Borne in the first round but losing to Piper Niven in the second round. She announced her retirement from pro wrestling in 2015 but later worked a match for Impact Wrestling and then The Mae Young Classic.

NJPW Owner Wants To Work With WWE?

NJPW Owner, Takaaki Kidani, spoke to Tokyo Sports about some future goals he has with NJPW. @STRIGGA of Purolove.com provided the translations. Kidani hopes to continue filling out the Tokyo Dome, eventually filling the seats in the outfield, but to do that he’ll need more young Japanese stars, and a heavyweight star in his twenties. Between a rising fan base and sales in 2018, Kidani continued that NJPW will have more money to pay wrestlers and are looking to continue to bring in wrestlers who had a relationship with WWE until “the other side” says “let’s get along.” Clearly, bringing in Chris Jericho had a positive impact on the company’s bottom line and overseas exposure as NJPW has already lined him up to face Tetsuya Naito.
