Attorney Says Lawler Family Should Request Independent Review Into Brian Christopher’s Suicide

Brian Christopher passed away after he reportedly hung himself while in a jail cell all by himself. He was in isolation due to his name’s notoriety. An attorney with experience in the area says the Lawler Family should demand answers from the Hardeman County Jail and an independent review.

Jeff Rosenblum, an attorney who has handled cases in the past where inmates sued prisons for injury or lack of care, says the Lawler Family deserves answers about what happened to Christopher. Rosenblum, who has filed 40 lawsuits against state and county-run jails is skeptical in a case like Brian Lawler’s.

“Most suicides are preventable, and most suicides in confinement are and should be preventable,” Rosenblum said to Fox 13.

Hardeman County Sheriff John Doolen released a statement saying Christopher showed no suicidal tendencies when entering incarceration. The Tennessee Corrections Institute accredited the Hardeman County Jail in February this year.

“I want to see the log books. I want to talk to the inmates,” Rosenblum continued. “I want to get statements from those inmates, get statements from them to make sure these are accurate statements.”

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has an open case on the matter and Jerry Lawler spoke briefly about the subject in an interview with Memphis’ Fox 13 news’ Zach Crenshaw.

“There may be more to this than meets the eye,” Lawler said while also adding that he was contacted by the TBI and asked not to speak on the matter because it is still under investigation.

Despite Neck Issue, Sting Feels He Could Still Wrestle Undertaker (AUDIO)

Sting vs. The Undertaker is a match that will likely never happen … but “The Icon” believes he’s still physically capable enough to put on a good match with “The Deadman.”

As you may recall, Sting was forced to retire from the ring due to medical issues. However, the wrestler told Lilian Garcia on the latest Chasing Glory podcast he feels like he and Taker would tell an incredible story if they were somehow given the opportunity.

“It’s sad to, because even at my age, I feel like I could still go — I could still have a real good Undertaker match, for example,” said Sting. “I think we could tell an incredible story with the gimmicks and the mystique of both of them.”

Sting said he’s always yearned for the showdown with Undertaker. Missing out on that match is one of the few regrets he has for not coming to WWE sooner.

“You know, I’ve had these ideas for 20 years — some of the ideas I have in my head,” he added.  “It would be something I think people would talk about for a long time.”

Despite those desires, don’t get confused: Sting says he has no plans to return to the ring.  After being diagnosed with spinal stenosis, he made it clear he’s done.

Jerry says the family is appreciative of all the people who’ve reached out since Brian’s passing.

In regards to the death investigation being conducted by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, Lawler said there’s “more than this than meets the eye.” He told FOX13 he couldn’t elaborate until the police investigation was complete.

Sheriff Says There Was ‘No Indication’ Brian Christopher Was Suicidal At Time Of Death

NXT Pays Tribute To Nikolai Volkoff, Brian Christopher With 10-Bell Salute (VIDEO)

WWE started the process Sunday of honoring two of its stars who passed away — Hall of Famer Nikolai Volkoff and Brian Christopher.

At Sunday’s NXT show in Phoenix, both men were recognized before the show with a ten bell salute. The crowd stood in absolute silence during the tolls.

During the NXT ceremony, Volkoff was described as one of the greatest villains in the history of sports entertainment. Throughout most of his WWE run, Volkoff was a heat magnet — often singing the national anthem of the Soviet Union to rile up crowds. He participated in the original Wrestlemania tagging with the Iron Sheik under the management of Freddie Blassie.

Volkoff’s career spanned more than 30 years.  Even after his retirement in the mid-90s, he’d make the occasional one-off appearance.  He was inducted into WWE’s Hall of Fame in 2005.

Here’s a look at how NXT paid tribute to the pair of performers.
