WWE Reportedly Interested In Some TNA Stars For NXT, More On AJ Styles -WWE & GFW

Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that WWE officials are reportedly trying to find out when the contracts of a few top TNA stars expire. They are interested in a few TNA stars but only for the NXT brand, at least for now.

AJ Styles

It was noted before that WWE changed their mind and now are interested in AJ Styles. Nothing is expected to happen any time soon because Styles is under contract to New Japan Pro Wrestling until the end of the year. Styles said on Inside The Ropes radio show yesterday that it’s only a matter of time before he shows up in Global Force Wrestling. Style said right now his schedule is so full that’s it’s hard to find time to fit GFW in.

Samoa Joe Signs Full-Time WWE Contract

PWTorch.com reports that WWE officials were so impressed with Samoa Joe  and his merchandise sales that Vince McMahon and Triple H personally pushed for him to sign a full-time WWE contact. PWInsider has confirmed that Joe has signed a full-time deal and that’s why he was at RAW last night, defeating Tyson Kidd in a match before the start of RAW.

The fact that Joe’s appearances for Ring of Honor will now air on national cable TV also played into the decision for WWE to sign him to a full-time deal.

Joe’s current NXT deal reportedly has a clause that would let WWE sign him to a full-time deal. WWE chose to execute that clause this past Thursday after ROH announced their deal with Destination America. Joe and WWE signed an addendum to the original deal, now making Joe a full-time WWE worker.

Even though Joe has now signed a full-time deal with WWE, he will still be fulfilling his indie dates that were booked. ROH has confirmed that Joe will still be working their June 20th TV tapings in New York City, in what appears to be Joe’s final ROH appearance. Absolute Intense Wrestling in Cleveland announced last night that Joe has been added to their July 10th show.

Joe is booked for the big WWE NXT live events in Pittsburgh, PA and Columbus, OH this month. PWInsider reports that Joe is not currently booked for tonight’s SmackDown tapings so unless things change, Joe will not be the one who will answer NXT Champion Kevin Owens open challenge.

Kevin Owens came out to Sami Zayn’s music and wearing a John Cena shirt. He said he would make an NXT open challenge but he’s not insecure like Cena and he thinks people should earn their title shots.

Owens said he only backed downed to Samoa Joe because he wanted to give the fans a positive note to go home on. William Regal came out and complained that Owens was hurting everyone.

Solomon Crowe came out and called Owens a piece of crap. Owens challenged Crowe to a match and Regal made the match.

Emma w/Dana Brooke def. Bayley: After the match, Emma & Dana attacked Bayley. Charlotte came out and Emma & Dana laid her out also.

Blake & Murphy w/Alexa Bliss def. Elias Samson & Mike Rallis

Finn Balor def. Tye Dillinger

Kevin Owens def. Solomon Crowe: After the match, Owens tried to attack Crowe but Samoa Joe came out and got in his face. Owens left the ring and said that is a warning to Joe.

News On Samoa Joe’s WWE Contract

Samoa Joe’s WWE contract has been described as the first of it’s kind to allow unprecedented freedom for him as a performer. It appears that Joe’s contract will keep him off TV for other promotions outside of NXT, but will allow him to continue to work for ROH and others.

Joe’s contract is somewhat like the one Rhyno has with WWE but for a lot more money and Joe has also has a merchandise deal.

Joe talked about his deal on Twitter:
