The end of an era is officially on the horizon—AJ Styles has confirmed that he’ll be stepping away from in-ring competition in 2026.
Speaking with Tokyo Sports during WWE’s recent trip to Japan, Styles revealed that his time inside the squared circle is winding down. While he hasn’t locked in the exact date or match for his farewell, the Phenomenal One made it clear that next year will be his final run.
“I don’t want to show fans an AJ Styles who isn’t himself anymore,” he explained, noting that the decision stems from his desire to retire before his body gives out. “I’ve decided to walk away before I get to that point.”
Styles also hinted that WWE’s Supershow Japan event in Tokyo may end up being his last time competing in Japan—a country that played a huge role in his career resurgence during his New Japan Pro-Wrestling run. After retirement, he envisions staying involved with WWE, potentially working with young talent and preparing them for the main roster.
Interestingly, 2026 also marks the retirement year of Styles’ legendary NJPW rival Hiroshi Tanahashi. Styles praised Tanahashi as “a truly great wrestler,” and while he didn’t confirm anything, he left the door cracked open for one more dream clash with The Ace. “I still want to do it 1000%,” Styles admitted. “But we both have positions to consider, so I don’t know if it will happen.”
While fans wait to see how his final year shapes up, Styles won’t be short on big moments. WWE has already announced that he’ll face longtime rival John Cena during Cena’s own retirement tour at Crown Jewel. That showdown promises to be a major chapter in both men’s farewell journeys.

TNA star Masha Slamovich has publicly addressed recent domestic abuse allegations stemming from her past relationship with fellow wrestler AKIRA.
The situation unfolded on Sept. 23, when a friend of AKIRA shared screenshots of messages and additional archived material online, presenting them as evidence of physical, emotional, and mental abuse during the pair’s relationship.
The fallout was swift. TNA Wrestling announced they were investigating the matter and removed Slamovich from promotional material for a scheduled Knockouts Championship bout against Ash By Elegance at Victory Road. Multiple independent promotions have also taken her off upcoming cards.
On Thursday night, Slamovich released what she described as her “only statement” regarding the accusations. In it, she acknowledged that her relationship with AKIRA had been “toxic and mutually destructive,” while taking responsibility for her actions and admitting shame over how things unfolded.
“I take responsibility for my actions and I am sorry, embarrassed, and ashamed of the role I played in our relationship,” Slamovich wrote, adding that she has since sought professional help to learn healthier ways of managing conflict.
She closed by apologizing to AKIRA and others she feels she let down, expressing hope that her former partner will find healing.

TNA Wrestling is giving some long-overdue flowers to one of its most iconic factions. Angelina Love and Velvet Sky — best known together as The Beautiful People — have officially been announced for the 2025 TNA Hall of Fame. The duo will join Mickie James in this year’s class of inductees.
The reveal came via TNA’s X page, where company president Carlos Silva surprised Love and Sky with the news during an interview conducted by Tommy Dreamer. Both women were caught off guard by the announcement, with emotions quickly taking over. Sky, fighting back tears, said the honor “meant the world” to them.
Love and Sky first hit the TNA scene in 2007, initially working as a tag team before turning heel and introducing fans to The Beautiful People. The faction went on to become one of the most recognizable and talked-about groups in Knockouts history, with members like Madison Rayne, Lacey Von Erich, and even Billy Gunn (as “Cute Kip”) rotating in and out over the years. Still, it was Love and Sky who remained the heart and soul of the act.
The group originally split in 2011 but has reunited multiple times since, with their name and legacy continuing to hold weight in women’s wrestling.
Their official induction will go down October 12 at Bound For Glory in Lowell, Massachusetts. TNA has yet to confirm whether more names will be added to the 2025 Hall of Fame class, though the company has traditionally kept inductions small — sometimes even honoring just one person per year. Last year saw Rhyno and late TNA co-founder Bob Ryder take their place in the Hall.
