Will Ospreay made his long-awaited return to AEW at Revolution, appearing moments after Jon Moxley successfully defended the AEW Continental Championship against Konosuke Takeshita.
Moxley retained the title after a grueling match that lasted more than 20 minutes, ultimately putting Takeshita away with a choke submission. As the champion prepared to leave with the Death Riders, the arena lights suddenly went out.
When they came back on, a video aired teasing the comeback of Ospreay. Moxley appeared unimpressed by the message — at least until Ospreay himself showed up in the arena moments later.
Ospreay Takes Out the Death Riders
Once he entered the ring, Ospreay immediately went on the attack. The returning star unloaded on Daniel Garcia, Wheeler Yuta, and PAC, sending the group scrambling.
While Ospreay managed to take down several members of the faction, Moxley avoided direct contact and escaped the confrontation, leaving Ospreay standing tall in the ring as the segment ended.
The moment clearly signaled that Ospreay has his sights set on the Continental Champion moving forward.
Return After Months Away
Ospreay had been sidelined since August, with his most recent match prior to Revolution taking place at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door.
At that event, Ospreay competed in a Lights Out Steel Cage match that featured multiple top stars. Reports leading up to the bout indicated he was already dealing with a neck injury, but he chose to compete anyway before stepping away to recover.
Following the match, Ospreay underwent surgery and spent more than six months rehabbing the injury, keeping him out of action for the remainder of the year.
Return Teased in Recent Weeks
AEW had been airing vignettes teasing Ospreay’s comeback in the weeks leading up to Revolution, making his return one of the most anticipated moments of the event.
Revolution ultimately featured several major surprises, including Adam Copeland and Christian Cage returning earlier in the night, as well as Ronda Rousey appearing after Toni Storm’s victory over Marina Shafir.
With Ospreay now back in action and already targeting Moxley and the Death Riders, it appears a major feud could be on the horizon in AEW’s Continental Championship scene.
