After bringing back Clash at the Castle and Bad Blood in 2024, WWE may be set to revive another long-awaited premium live event—Evolution. According to BodySlam.net, the company is eyeing a return for its all-women’s event this summer, with a tentative date of Saturday, July 5, and a potential location at Mohegan Sun: Casino & Resort in Uncasville, Connecticut.
The Legacy of WWE Evolution
The first Evolution took place in October 2018, making history as WWE’s first-ever all-women’s premium live event. Hosted at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Uniondale, New York, the show featured top stars from Raw, SmackDown, NXT, and WWE’s past generations. The main event saw Ronda Rousey successfully defend the Raw Women’s Championship against Nikki Bella, who has since been inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame. Meanwhile, Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair delivered an unforgettable Last Woman Standing Match for the SmackDown Women’s Championship, cementing Evolution as a milestone moment for WWE’s women’s division.
The event also saw WWE legends like Trish Stratus, Lita, Michelle McCool, Torrie Wilson, Kelly Kelly, Alundra Blayze, Ivory, and Molly Holly step back into the ring, creating a special blend of past and present.
Why Has Evolution Taken So Long to Return?
Despite Evolution’s success and strong fan demand, WWE never followed up with a sequel—at least not immediately. According to Stephanie McMahon, the company originally considered running Evolution 2 in 2019, but instead prioritized Crown Jewel that year, which hosted the first-ever women’s match in Saudi Arabia.
Over the years, WWE Superstars—especially Bayley—have been vocal about wanting another Evolution event. The Grand Slam Champion previously expressed that she was “dying” for its return, and fans have continued to push for it as well.
Will Evolution 2 Finally Happen?
While WWE has not officially confirmed Evolution’s return, the reported plans for a July 5 event suggest that discussions are serious. If the event is finalized, it could serve as a major showcase for WWE’s women’s division—especially with rising stars from NXT, established names on the main roster, and potential appearances from WWE legends.
