Last night after UFC 181 came to a close at the Mandalay Bay Arena in Las Vegas NV MMA journalist Ariel Hawani interviewed the UFC’s newest signee Phil “CM Punk” Brooks. (You can watch the interview here) http://www.mmamania.com/2014/12/7/7347637/video-watch-cm-punk-reason-join-ufc-leave-wwe-interview-mma
One thing that I found interesting is that punk said after he was done with WWE he knew what he wanted to do next in fact he said the first time he brought it up to UFC owner Lorenzo Fereta was back at UFC 170 on February 22nd when Rousey fought Mcmann.
Punk says although he appreciates getting paid this isn’t about the money and its more about achieving a goal he’s always had and at the end of the day not living his life with regret. He also says he understands the doubt since he has an 0-0 record in the sport but he says he’s made a career of proving people wrong and at the end of it all he will have people’s respect.
Punk was asked about his age playing a factor (punk is currently 36) he says that he’s felt better then he’s ever felt and fighting into his 40’s isn’t out of the question because you can’t tell an athlete when to hang it up and he plans on making the UFC his home for the foreseeable feature.
So when will we see CM Punk in the octagon? Well according to the man himself he wants to at least train for 6 months before stepping into the cage so if my math is correct I wouldn’t be surprised if he made his debut durring international fight week in July.
Like punk said in the interview “wether you’ll tune in to see me get my ass kicked that’s ok, or because your curios that’s fine too or if you want to watch to root me on that’s even better but you will tune in”
Well said punk well said
