Looking up and pointing, paying tribute to her late husband Eddie Guerrero and blowing a kiss to fans, Vickie Guerrero said farewell to the WWE after getting one last chance to be part of a match with Stephanie McMahon. The cougar of the WWE went out with the respect of fans that lead to numerous trends on social media Monday night.
For 9 years Vickie Guerrero has been a fixture on WWE television. First appearing in segments with her late husband and wrestling legend Eddie Guerrero in 2005, Vickie gained popularity with fans after being given a more prominent role as a regular character following her husband’s unexpected death that same year. The WWE having a long history with the family offered Vickie the job opportunity as a source of income.
It didn’t take long for fans to grow to love Vickie, switching from a face to a heel more times then we can count, Vickie always has maintained a soft spot in our hearts. She is known for her catchphrase “Excuse Me”, which she admits was originally an ad-lib when she forgot her lines for a segment on WWE TV. With her trademark shrieking voice the phrase became possibly one of the most irritating phrases in WWE history, but fans loved it.
Having little wrestling experience, Vickie switched between roles of Raw and Smackdown general manager, sometimes getting in the ring but mostly just taking part in TV segments. Which included a failed attempt at “marriage” with WWE superstar Edge.
A couple years back when Kevin Nash was making headlines talking about the WWE, Eddie’s name was often brought up. We reached out to Vickie at the time who is a Christian and shared a religious themed discussion on Twitter. Which presented Vickie with the rare opportunity to publicly share her faith.
You either loved her or hated her but one thing is for sure, she always had the respect of fans.
