Raw Recap: August 5 2013

Stephanie McMahon was in the ring. She talked about giving Daniel Bryan a makeover. She showed footage from the makeover. Stephanie introduced Bryan to the ring. Bryan came out with his hair slicked back & wearing a suit. Stephanie said he looked sharp & turned the mic over to him & left. Bryan thanked Stephanie. Bryan said he doesn’t think this what the company actually wants. Bryan said they want somebody who is jacked up wears cargo shorts & bright yellow t-shirts. Bryan said they want somebody like John Cena. Bryan said he respect Cena, he picked him as his Summer Slam opponent because Cena he is the best contender but Cena doesn’t think he can beat him. Bryan said how can someone as lowly as him beat Superstar like Cena. Bryan said he can because Cena is a entertainer & that he is a wrestler. Fans chanted Yes! Bryan said Cena has been up here the past 10 years in sold out arenas & Cena hasn’t seen the holes that he has drug himself out of because he is a wrestler. Bryan said if Cena gets fired tomorrow he goes back to his mansion & his multi million dollar lifestyle & will never wrestle again. Bryan said if he gets fired tomorrow you will see him in every armory, gymnasium & every little dirt box filled with 30 people & a wrestling ring because he loves wrestling. Bryan said he will dress up in this suit for now, comb his hair back for now, he will do what they want for now because at Summer Slam he is going to make Cena tap out. Bryan yelled Yes! Yes! Mr. Vince McMahon came to the ring. Bryan sticks out his hand for a handshake but Vince disses him & said he is just messing with him. Vince jokes around with Bryan about how he looks. Vince said he doesn’t want Cena to be WWE Champion but he wants Bryan as WWE Champion even less. Vince said he is starting to warm up to Bryan. Vince said WWE has never had a dwarf as WWE Champion or someone with muscularity of a toothpick or a face of a gargoyle. Vince said Bryan looks like a miniature Mick Foley. Vince said there is one more thing we need to do for this makeover. Vince said if Bryan wants to be WWE Champion & have his support he has to shave off his beard. Vince had a barber chair brought out. Vince said if the fans truly want Bryan to be champion then Bryan will do want he says. Vince said to Bryan if you want to be WWE Champion get in the chair. Bryan pulled off his suit coat & got In the chair. Vince brought out Wade Barrett to be the barber because Barrett keeps a well groomed beard. Barrett got out the clippers to shave Bryan’s beard. Bryan headbutted Barrett & put Barrett in the chair & shaved off half of his beard & tossed Barrett over the barricade & Bryan went up ramp chanting Yes! Bryan said to Vince you want me to change I say No! Bryan said he is going to be who he has always been & he is going to be WWE Champion. Bryan took of his shirt & tie & he had on a Cean like t-shirt that said the beard is here. Bryan said Cena says the champion is here well guess what the beard is here. Vince was ticked & threw a fit in the ring.

The MiZ who will be the host for Summer Slam came out to do commentary for the next match.

Rob Van Dam vs Alberto Del Rio. Ricardo Rodriguez was back with Del Rio. Ricardo got involved in the match & placed the bucket in the corner. RVD tossed Del Rio headfirst into that corner & bucket. RVD got the win. After the match Del Rio attacked Ricardo hitting him with the bucket. Del Rio then on the outside of the ring place Ricardo’s head between the steel steps & ring post & dropkicked the steps smashing Ricardo’s head.

Cody Rhodes was in the ring. Rhodes said he has a gift for Damien Sandow. He showed footage from the past couple of weeks including when he tossed Sandow’s Money In The Bank briefcase into the Gulf of Mexico. Back in the ring Rhodes had the briefcase he tossed into the Gulf & it was wet &had seaweed on it. Rhodes told Sandow to come out & get it. Sandow came out said put the case down & eave he isn’t falling for this. Rhodes put the briefcase down & left the ring. Sandow came to the ring to get it but Rhodes came back in & attacked Sandow. Sandow retreated from the ring. Rhodes opened the briefcase & dumped out the contract & tossed the briefcase out of the ring. Sandow yelled that was his contract.

Ryback vs Mark Henry: Henry won by count out because Ryback refused to get back in the ring & walked away.

The Bella Twins backstage talked about their show Total Divas. Eva Marie walked up & told Brie nice win last week & that she made Natty look silly. Natalya walked up . Brie told Natalya that her being allowed on their show is a slap in the face. Natalya said actually this is a slap in the face & slapped Brie across the face & walked off.

John Cena came to the ring & said he is used to being a target. Cena said sometimes he has to stand face to face in the ring with a true fan favorite. Cena said a lot of you chose Daniel Bryan. Cena said he heard what Bryan had to say & said there was a lot of truth in it but also a lot of ignorance. Cena said Bryan wants to talk about the way he looks & judge him for the way he is. Cena said Bryan is just like everybody else. Cena said he doesn’t change for Bryan, he doesn’t change for no one & said “always has been me, always will be me.” Cena said Bryan wants to talk about hard times. Cena said he came back to work 24 hours after breaking his neck & said his elbow looks like a football & he is still here. Cena said Bryan wants to glorify wrestling in auditoriums & gymnasiums because that is where he is more comfortable & where he rather be. Cena said Bryan is right if he gets fired tomorrow he will never wrestle again but it’s only because he loves the WWE & would never tarnish wearing this Championship. Cena said the WWE is like the NFL & in the WWE NFL stands for not for long if you keep glorifying your past & you don’t look at what’s in front of you. Cena talked about how Bryan said he couldn’t wrestle. Cena said millions of people say it all the time & are saying right now. Cena said he has held this Championship 11 times & has gone toe to toe with the greatest & walked out with his head held high. Cena said you don’t get lucky 11 times. Cena said go ahead & underestimate him. Fans chanted boring. Cena said it sounds like the people want to see him & Bryan fight right now. Fans chanted Yes! Cena said Bryan doesn’t realize that if he wins then he deserves it but if he loses the next day he has to wake up in the mirror & admit to himself that he just wasn’t that good. Cena said just remember what he has been saying for the past 6 months, “our time is now & the champ is here.” Randy Orton came out with his Money In The Bank briefcase. Orton said Cena is always aware of the target on his back but never fully aware of the target starring him in the face. Orton said it doesn’t matter who walks out of Summer Slam with the WWE Title, what matters is this(Orton holds up the briefcase). Orton said it ultimately guarantees that he becomes WWE Champion. Orton said it could happen at Summer Slam or the night after but the point he is trying to make is the champ is here. The Shield came out & surrounded the ring. Daniel Bryan came to the ring to join Cena & Orton. Raw GM Brad Maddox came out & made a 6 man tag match for tonight.

Tons of Funk vs Erick Rowan & Luke Harper of the Wyatt Family: Rowan & Harper got the win. After the match Bray Wyatt came into the ring & kissed Brodus on the head & laid him out. Wyatt said the devils favorite demon is no monster he is an illusion he is a fairy tale. Wyatt said the demon is a lie & that he is much different he is the man of a thousand truths & he is Bray Wyatt the eater of worlds & he is forever. Wyatt said Kane follow the buzzards. Kane’s pyro went off on the stage & Kane appeared on the big screen. Kane said when you pull the wings off of buzzards for fun they’re impossible to follow. Kane said to Wyatt that he doesn’t condemn hi intentions but he does see through his haze of cryptic words. Kane said Wyatt is here to maim, disfigure & mutilate everyone who crosses his path. Kane said he likes that he does the same thing but he doesn’t do it to spread a message he does it for his own personal amusement. Kane said at Summer Slam you will find out why he is the devil’s favorite demon because no one does the devil’s work better than he does & at Summer Slam you will see the reason why your family won’t be able to save you, no one will be able to save you from inside a ring of fire. Kane set off his ring pyro. Wyatt just laughed.

Josh Mathews backstage with CM Punk. Mathews asked Punk about his match tonight with Curtis Axel. Punk said Axel’s father is somebody he has a lot of admiration for & his former manager Bobby “The Brain” Heenan. Punk said Mr. Perfect still had of mind of his own but his son Curtis Axel has such blind loyalty to Paul Heyman it’s going to get him a beating tonight. Punk said he is coming for Heyman. Mathews asked Punk about his match at Summer Slam with Brock Lesnar. Punk said it will forever be known as the night the beast got neutered. Punk said Brock Lesnar loses the match & Paul Heyman loses everything.

Kaitlyn vs Layla: AJ Lee came out & distracted Kaitlyn. Layla got the win. Layla & AJ held hands & skipped around the ring.

Christian vs Heath Slater: Christian got the win.

CM Punk vs Curtis Axel: Before the match started Punk went after Paul Heyman & Heyman ran to the back. Heyman came back down after Axel got control of the match. Punk got his hands on Heyman & Brock Lesnar came to the ring. Axel pulled Punk out of the ring & Punk nailed Axel with the GTS. Punk got a chair & went after Lesnar but Lesnar ripped the chair from Punk & tossed the chair into the ring. Punk & Lesnar went at on the outside of the ring. Brock rolled Punk into the ring. Lesnar went for a F5 but Punk escaped & picked up the chair & nailed Lesnar with it. Punk went after Heyman with the chaie as Heyman begged. Lesnar stopped Punk & nailed him with the F5. Heyman told Lesnar to hurt Punk. Lesnar hit Punk across the back with the chair 3 times.

Renee Young backstage with Paul Heyman, Brock Lesnar & Curtis Axel. She asked Heyman for a comment on what just happened. Lesnar said that’s the best of the best that this world has to offer. Lesnar said he is the beast & the best in the world. Lesnar told Heyman to say something stupid. Heyman challenged CM Punk to a fight next week against him.

Fandango vs Kofi Kingston: Kofi got the win.

Triple H backstage on the phone, Stephanie came in crying. She said her dad bit her head off about the Daniel Bryan makeover disaster. Triple H said Vince has lost it & said Vince doesn’t care if he throws away Summer Slam. Triple H got angry & said he is tired of it & he isn’t going to watch this ship go down because of him. Triple  H said he doesn’t know what Vince is going to do at Summer Slam but he is going to stop it.

Zeb Colter & The Real Americans(Jack Swagger & Antonio Cesaro) in the ring. Colter insulted Green Bay & said for everyone to rise & put their hand over their hearts & say in a loud clear voice with them “we the people.”

The Real Americans vs The Uso’s: Real Americans got the win.

Dolph Ziggler vs Big E Langston: Kaitlyn came down & went after AJ. They ended up in the ring & Ziggler tried to get them out. Langston took advantage of the distraction & laid out Ziggler & got the win.

Daniel Bryan, Randy Orton & John Cena vs The Shield: Bryan, Orton & Cena won by DQ. After the match Bryan was celebrating  by leading the fans in a Yes! chant when Orton came up from behind & nailed Bryan with a RKO. The Shield came back in the ring & Cena & Orton worked together & cleared The Shield from the ring. Orton then nailed Cena with a RKO. Orton went & got his Money In The Bank briefcase & a referee & went back to the ring but before he could cash it in The Shield came back into the ring. Orton walked away as The Shield took out Cena & Bryan. Roman Reign nailed Cena with a spear & they delivered a triple powerbomb to Bryan.
